0 TVIFF provides funding to a Tees Valley filmmaker!
Michael met with Darlington filmmaker Jim Campbell to confirm that TVIFF will provide full funding for Jim's next short film, which will then be premiered at TVIFF 2023. His previous short "Bushwhacker Blues" was nominated for Best North East Film at TVIFF 2022, so this partnership lays testament to the ongoing support we give to creatives that engage with the Tees Valley International Film Festival.
The Tees Valley Caravans advert is in the can! What a wonderful and productive day we had. With a cast and crew made up entirely of TVIFF 2022 participants, we're confident that our cameras have captured magic and Tom, Nancy, Charlotte and the team at Tees Valley Caravans will be over the moon with the finished product. We'll share it with you as soon as post production is complete. The message in all of this is: if you engage with the Tees Valley International Film Festival, we won't forget you and when the opportunities come in, you'll be the first we contact. Make it happen!
0 The First TVIFF 2023 Event is Announced!
The first of the events that make up this years Tees Valley International Film Festival was announced today. Former frontman of Chumbawamba, Dunstan Bruce, will be coming to ARC on 28th October to take part in an interview and audience Q&A after the screening of his film "I Get Knocked Down". The film is the untold and remarkable story of Dunstan’s personal redemptive voyage, as well as a call to arms to those who think activism is best undertaken by someone else. He’s wondering where did it all go wrong? For him. For humanity. Twenty years after his fall from grace, the former frontman of the anarchist band Chumbawamba is angry and frustrated. But how does a middle-aged, retired radical, who now feels invisible get back up again? Festival Director Michael Luke was inspired to contact Dunstan after seeing the film and being blown away the films honesty, it's slant on the aging process, the nineties nostalgia and, more important than all of that, the section of the film in which Dunstan comest to the Tees Valley to revisit his hometown of Billingham! The film is an outstanding document of a life well lived and a perfect fit for the Tees Valley International Film Festival. Head over to the What's On section to get your tickets now!
0 Collaboration with Teesside University!
Michael met with Tom Watson, Head of Culture and Creativity at the University of Teesside to discuss a groundbreaking collaboration between TVIFF and the Uni. We can't say anymore just yet but stay tuned because big news is coming your way soon!
0 TVIFF helps a local business make it's first commercial!
We were contacted recently by Thomas Miller, owner of Tees Valley Caravans, for assistance in making their first commercial. In keeping with the festival ethos, it was decided that we would make the advert with every single member of cast and crew being sourced from people who took part in TVIFF 2022. So, it's our great joy to announce that we have our team in place and the shoot will take place in April. We feel immensley priveleged that the festival continues to provide exposure and paid work to local talent five months after the first event concluded. Thomas Miller is pictured with Director Paul Stainthorpe. Paul's film "Floppy Toast and Drippy Butter" was nominated for Best North East Film at TVIFF 2022.
